Below is a sample of charitable initiatives that Michael has or currently partakes in:
• Healthcare: We have proudly donated over $250,000 to Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish, supporting critical healthcare services in the region. Additionally, Century Auto Group donated $250,000 to the IWK Health Centre in partnership with Hyundai Hope on Wheels.
• Childhood Cancer Research: Contribute millions annually through our partnership with Hyundai Canada’s Hyundai Hope on Wheels Canada. Michael serves on the Hyundai National Dealer Advisory Council and the board of the Hyundai Hope on Wheels charity. Our involvement is personal, strategic, and sustained as we work toward solving childhood cancer in Canada.
• Equity and Inclusion: We have been longtime supporters of LGBTQ+ parades and events, including being the only dealership to participate in Truro’s inaugural Pride Parade. We proudly adorned the Subaru Shuttle vehicle with a Pride flag to show immediate support and advocate for All Gender Restrooms.
• Food Security: Our dealerships raise tens of thousands of dollars annually for local food banks through grassroots, employee-driven campaigns, particularly at Century Mazda in Halifax. These efforts directly impact families in need.
• Seasonal Food Drives: At stores in Truro and Saint John, we have hosted seasonal food drives tied to Hyundai’s “Progress for Humanity” brand platform. Supported by both staff and customers, these events raise food and funds for local food banks while helping position Hyundai as a compassionate, community-driven brand.
• Cultural Support: We are strong supporters of Mi’kmaq artists and their work and participate annually in the Flag Raising Ceremony for the Philippines in Truro every June.
• Community Memorials and Support: We took part in Truro’s 2022 memorial honoring victims of the Iranian protests. We also made significant contributions to repatriate Prabhjot Singh Katri’s body to India after his tragic death in Truro in 2021 for wearing a dastar.
• Seasonal Community Engagement: Michael is actively involved in the community through various seasonal holiday initiatives, including donations and support.
• EV Education: We founded local TEV Talks, a community education series held in Saint John and Truro, to promote EV literacy, infrastructure readiness, and environmental awareness in Atlantic Canada. These events bring together community members, industry professionals, and educators to break down barriers to EV adoption.
